Education is achieved by completing the available university qualifications, the number of qualifications the player must complete will be dependent on how high the goal level is set. Happiness is achieved by achieving other goals, acquiring goods and taking time off work. Wealth is achieved by having a certain level of money in the bank, shares and cash in the hand, the player normally would earn this money by going to work. The goals are wealth, happiness, education and career. The object of the game is to be the first player to achieve 100% success, this is achieved by reaching the top of four goals. "You went to Las Vegas in a $20,000 car and came back in a $200,000 Greyhound bus." If the player chooses to deposit all his or her cash in the bank at the end of week or simply ends the week with no cash then no money will be spent over the weekend. The event can also be random, described to the player with traditional Sierra humor, e.g. These events are usually based on a purchase that the player made during his or her previous week, such as attending a show if the player purchased theater or concert tickets. On weekends, each character experiences an "Oh What a Weekend" event, which uses up some money (usually less than $200), or, if the player has got a computer, creates some money in the form of earnings. Each turn represents a week of the character's life, during which the player decides what the character does. Time is used up by moving to a new location and by performing actions like working, attending class, or resting.
Jones in the fast lane remake free#
Players are free to move around in either direction, only limited by the time remaining per turn. If only one player is present, he or she may play against the titular "Jones".Įach player is represented by a coloured marble on the board. The game can be played by up to four players, who take turns "living" their respective weeks. I'll make sure to keep you guys updated on the status of the game if you'd like, but dont expect it to be out for a while yet as it is still in the early stages of development. The game world is represented by a board game-like ring of buildings in squares, resembling a cross between Monopoly and Careers. so yeah, i suppose it shares some similarities with the sims in that it will have more replay value and stuff to do, but we are really aiming to keep that original jones in the fast lane feel to it. it will also remain true to the original in that you will basically look at the map and click to where you want to go, except this time with improved graphics and more stuff to click. and as for the second half of your post, i suppose it does have its similarities to the sims, although we aren't really focusing as much on the boring, everyday activities like going to the bathroom as much as we are going to focus on the bigger picture, as in the town/city instead of the house. Just thinking (typing?) out loud, but your ideas seem a lot like the Sims. Vroomfondel wrote:Interesting.Best of luck to you, I really enjoyed the original Jones in The Fast Lane.
otherwise, just kinda sit back and know that there might be a newer and better version of jones in the fast lane coming out some time in the (hopefully) not too distant future of time and space Now if anyone is interested in helping, contact either me or pyroman as we need all the help we can get, especially with the graphics and audio. It will basically be Jones in the Fast Lane times 10, with more stuff to do, more stuff to buy, just plain more of everything. more reasons to continue playing after you have the best job (which oh by the way will take considerably more effort) a new system that allows you to move up to bigger and better cities if you have the money, each with unique locations and jobs a more in depth character creation system a variety of new jobs and locations, each with their own unique activities marriage to other characters (maybe, this one isn't definite yet.) Our updated version is going to pretty much take the gameplay that made the original Jones in the Fast Lane so much fun and add to it a variety of new features including updated maps and much more in depth gameplay.
